DAY ONE SUMMARY: GETTING STARTED

Ty Pennington and his team of designers from the hit reality show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" met the Martinez family yesterday and bid them farewell so they could get to work planning their new house! Hearing Ty's wakeup call indicating they had been chosen to be a part of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's” Albuquerque, NM episode was just the beginning for the Martinez family as they were immediately whisked away for a family vacation to Disney World for the duration of the construction period.

Day One marks a day of preparation for the build, as construction equipment is moved to the site, utilities are disconnected from the existing house, and efforts continue to recruit the hundreds of volunteers that will be needed during the blur of construction resulting in a replacement home that will serve the Martinez family well throughout the years to come.

Tomorrow, Atreus Homes workers and volunteers from across New Mexico will swarm the site and begin demolition of the old home and construction will begin on the new structure.

More volunteers are always appreciated for the project that will last from through the 22nd of January. At the end of the construction period the Martinez family will have a replacement home ready to go and designed specifically to fulfill their every need.

Day Two Construction Schedule:

The march to the house is scheduled to begin by 8 a.m. Media wishing to cover the event should plan on being on set by that time. A special media area has been set up across from the site for shooting, and media should call ahead to arrange for credentials and access to the set. Demolition of the house is scheduled to begin at approximately noon, and as soon as the site is cleared, work will begin pouring the foundation for the new home.

Construction will continue for one week, with Atreus Homes scheduled to hand the keys over the design team around midday on Monday.

SPECTATOR INFORMATION:
Spectators are encouraged to visit the site during the build and cheer on the builders and design team. Spectators should park at the Fairgrounds parking lot (pick up a free-parking ticket across the street) and a shuttle service will take them to the set. The shuttle service will run from 7am to 7pm starting Thursday. Be aware there will be temporary rest rooms, but no food or water will be available on site.
